A Minimum Viable Product is a process to validate if an idea has potential … or if it should be binned (or how it should be changed to work). I recently wrote a post about this on scrumandkanban.co.uk which explains it fuller, using dial-a-mariachi as an example.
So what is an MVP for this crazy idea?
- Build a website that has an ‘order’ button … and see if people click on it?
- If they do, then take a mariachi band out on the streets of London and see what reaction we get? (whilst also shooting some amazing footage!)
- If that works, maybe roll it out to different locations. If it doesn’t then we can stop without wasting more money, or try something different.
- If all that shows there is value in the idea, then maybe we’ll pitch for a round of funding (on something like Kickstarter).
Stage 1 has gone well. So on to stage 2 …
