The MVP

A Minimum Viable Product is a process to validate if an idea has potential … or if it should be binned (or how it should be changed to work). I recently wrote a post about this on scrumandkanban.co.uk which explains it fuller, using dial-a-mariachi as an example.

So what is an MVP for this crazy idea?

  1. Build a website that has an ‘order’ button … and see if people click on it?
  2. If they do, then take a mariachi band out on the streets of London and see what reaction we get? (whilst also shooting some amazing footage!)
  3. If that works, maybe roll it out to different locations. If it doesn’t then we can stop without wasting more money, or try something different.
  4. If all that shows there is value in the idea, then maybe we’ll pitch for a round of funding (on something like Kickstarter).

Stage 1 has gone well. So on to stage 2 …
